Khal Drogo

Khal Drogo or as I call him Drogo, has come into my life and added a whole new level of happiness and excitement for my future.

When I first saw this horse online I had an immediate connection with him. Now some might say I loved him right from the start because his picture was of him in a Santa hat smiling at the camera, but I would say it was because I knew he was meant to be mine.

When we had set up a time and day to meet his previous owner I was quiet nervous. My other horse trying experiences were let’s just say eventful. As I watched this horse streaming madly around the arena on a lunge I thought, “Well this might not work out after all.” But once I got on, it was an indescribable feeling.

Some have a hard time believing that Drogo is a 5 year old because he is so calm and sweet and nothing like the typical OTTB.

Once I decided he was mine we got him and trailered him out to my ranch. I rode him the day after he got here and he was an angel!! I was so nervous the whole time that he would spook or just lose his mind, but he was such a gentle giant and I think he knew he had to take care of me.

As time moved on I began to open up to him quite a bit and now I’m the one taking care of him. He is my whole world. He is everything I’ve always wanted in a horse - big, beautiful, strong, and kind.

He is an absolutely fabulous horse in and out of the arena. He loves going on trail rides and meeting other horses and just playing with the goats and ponies.

So far I have jumped him 3’3 to 3’6 and he loves what he does. I have never been on a horse that enjoys what he does so much and thrives while doing it.

We plan to start showing this season and I have not a doubt in my mind that everything will go absolutely wonderfully.

I love him so deeply and he is truly a once in a lifetime horse.
